January marks the beginning of an intense and strategic year for Prunesco. We start 2026 with relevant international milestones, a key productive season in Chile, and essential internal work to project a solid year ahead. Here’s a detailed look at what we’re working on.

MEWA – INDIA: January 23–25, 2026

For the second time, Prunesco SpA will be present at #MEWA, continuing the work initiated last year to deepen commercial relationships and consolidate opportunities in key markets. This continuity is part of a long-term strategy focused on constant presence, close relationships with clients, and in-depth knowledge of each destination.

What do those who attended MEWA say?

“If we are attending MEWA for a second time, it’s because we saw real value in being there and because we believe in building long-term relationships,” says Vicente Eugenio Cepeda Lathrop, Regional Manager at Prunesco.

“We attend MEWA because it is a trade fair with a very concrete focus: the wholesale and distribution market, especially in a country as large as India. Unlike broader events, MEWA allows us to speak directly with buyers who are involved in the day-to-day operation of the business, who understand volumes, formats, and the real dynamics of the market. In addition, the Indian market represents enormous potential: it accounts for nearly 20% of the world’s population, and in the long term we want to accompany its growth by promoting the consumption of dried plums in a market with strong future prospects,” he adds.

Gulfood – Dubai: January 26–30, 2026

With more than 15 participations throughout our history, Prunesco was the first Chilean company to attend Gulfood – The World’s Biggest F&B Event, consolidating a presence that today is a benchmark in the industry. Traditionally, our trade fair calendar began in February, but in 2026 we decided to start earlier, reaffirming our commitment to international markets and direct contact with clients and strategic partners.

This participation allows us to anticipate trends, strengthen commercial relationships, and continue positioning Chilean dried plums in one of the most important food industry events worldwide.

Why do we attend international trade fairs like Gulfood?

At Prunesco, attending international trade fairs is not a formality or a one-off showcase. It is part of how we understand our business and how we build long-term relationships. We go because we need to be where our clients are. Gulfood brings together buyers, distributors, and strategic partners from the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe in one place. Being there allows us to speak face to face with decision-makers, understand their real needs, and jointly project the business ahead.

“We attend because we firmly believe that relationships are built in person. In an industry like agro-exports, trust cannot be improvised—it is cultivated through constant presence, reliability, and direct dialogue. Trade fairs allow us to strengthen relationships with existing clients, open new opportunities, and continue conversations that often begin via email or video call,” says Marcelo Lacunza, Commercial Manager at Prunesco.

While the commercial team is active internationally, in #Chile we are experiencing one of the most important moments of the year: the dried plum season is about to begin (the fruit is usually harvested during the first week of February).

During this period, our focus is on:

  • Ensuring that production and drying infrastructure is fully operational, guaranteeing efficient processes and the highest final fruit quality.

  • Closely monitoring key parameters at the start of the harvest to make timely decisions from day one.

  • Working closely with growers and agricultural teams during the most critical stage of the entire production season.

This stage is key to sustaining the trust of our growers and continuing to position Prunesco as a reliable and consistent supplier in the markets where we operate.

Before the intensity of harvest begins, January is a key month to prepare for what lies ahead. As every year, our plant enters a scheduled shutdown period, which is essential to ensure a solid operation during the season. During these weeks we carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment renewal, infrastructure improvements, and a comprehensive technical review of the plant.

This is work that is not always visible, but it is essential to guarantee operational continuity, process efficiency, and high quality standards when the season reaches its most demanding point. This process is part of our long-term planning and allows us to face the year with a plant that is fully prepared and aligned with our volumes, commercial commitments, and the requirements of the markets we serve.

We begin the year by combining experience, planning, and long-term vision, with teams working in a coordinated manner both in Chile and abroad. Thank you for joining us.
